My friend Kerry Goulder wrote a book! It is not just a book, it is a magical collection of projects that you can sew to stimulate imagination and create dreamy stories with characters that you bring to life. Sewing Tales is a total must have in every creative studio. Last night I opened it up and got so excited that I started right away and ended up with two adorable stuffed orcas. They have been named Lily and Doodle.
NOTE…I am a totally beginner when it comes to the sewing machine. I have the best supplies, thread from Coats and Clark, scissors and mats from Westcott Brand and so much more and I finally got to use it! I was shockingly elated at how well written the directions were and how simple the patterns were to use. I believer that if I could stitch up this cuteness on my beginner machine, anyone who is intentional can do it too. Lily and Doodle were cute when they were just patterns cut out.
After they were sewn and stuffed and closed up, I used felt and Black Beauty buttons (from my Laura Kelly collection with Buttons Galore and More) to embellish them. I stitched it all on by hand using embroidery floss from Coats and Clark! I think they are SOOOOO cute.
Which one do you think is Doodle? Which one is Lily?
Okay, so Lily has the flowers and Doodle has the dots. If you want to win a copy of Sewing Tales, a Laura Kelly Sharpie, Laura Kelly buttons, Westcott Brand scissors, Udderly Smooth (the best lotion for crafty hands ever) Coats and Clark Embroidery Floss and Thread; you can enter here!
