Thrifted Rainbow Book Decor

Creating Thrifted Rainbow Book Decor is a super fun way to add a pop of bright cheery color to any room. The really fun thing about this whole idea is that while I created a rainbow, any color at all could be featured. The thrill of the hunt for great books to use is something I wasn’t really expecting.  I mean to tell you, when I find a pink or an orange book, I almost scream out in delight right in the middle of the store.

Okay, let’s get to decorating. When starting with a small collection, I love the idea of using recycled wine crates for shelving.

I love using the books in little stacks for decorating too!

Where to Buy Thrifted Books

Our store is close by and always filled with great finds, friendly people and happy energy…..and BOOKS! It amazes me the books that people drop off and donate because guys — they are good.  I think that a library in the home is an important component. Of course there are some books in my rainbow collection that are titles I wouldn’t have purchased but did because I needed the color.  A few are even a little wild. I would start at the Goodwill.

Other great places to buy books are in the online neighborhood stores and at garage sales.

How to Choose Books

Pick your books based on the titles and the colors…colors being the priority…then bring them home to decorate.  This is my little bedroom corner as shared on IG a few weeks ago BEFORE getting new books!

Yay. Rainbow books. I need to go thrifting and find an orange and a pink. I love my corner of our bedroom. It is one of the happiest corners in our home!

How to Display Thrifted Rainbow Books

The first step was to take off the jackets! I do save the jackets in a box in the garage because someday I might want to put them back on. Who knows, maybe one of these crazy titles will end up being super valuable. I do have the first editions of my two favorite books.  If you are wondering what they are, I will share.  I LOVED the book Little Witch as a child.  As an adult my favorite is Rebecca by Daphne duMarier.  If you haven’t read it, go buy it now. I mean stop reading this blog and go buy it.

Reasons to Decorate Your Home

There are so many great reasons to decorate your home.  The decor determines the mood and the feel for your family and all who enter. It is a form of expression.  A home that is well decorated can lower anxiety and create a sense of ease and peace.  Different rooms can have different vibes determined solely by the decor — from the colors to the furniture to the accent decor.  Here are my top five reasons to decorate your home and invest in the process.

  1. A well decorated room creates a space for healthy living including the atmosphere as well as the functionality.
  2. Decorated spaces can promote well being, creativity, better rest, etc.
  3. It is fun.
  4. Home decor can change with the seasons, the holidays, and the times. It is a way to update style.
  5. There are no rules to home decorating. Your home is unique to you and your family.
