Monsters and Halloween go together. They just do. I know that all four of my kiddos were super scared of monsters when they were little. We had to plan our trick-or-treat route to avoid a few houses that gave them nightmares. I created this adorably scary monster Halloween party as a way to get the monster fun started in a way that is fun and happy. The items used to create this post were provided from Oriental Trading, however all ideas and projects are of my own creation.
The first thing I made for this party was a giant glass jar gumball monster with these massive, colorful gumballs from Oriental Trading.
This monster garland was also created using my Shapersters collections of dies that I designed for Ellison Educaton (Sizzix). I cut out different colors of felt with them and then embellished them to make them adorably scary.
Parties need games and this is no exception. These soft and colorful balls from Oriental Trading are the perfect size for “Feeding the Monster”. I used felt to create the monster and cut out a large mouth. Each balls that makes it into the mouth feeds him and gives the player points.
It cracks me up how perfectly this World Market cart works for party games! It is so easy to roll around and take outdoors.
If you want to make this a learning game in the classroom, you can give each color a different scoring amount. This will encourage addition and calculating skills. Bonus!
Treats are a must. I made these monster cookies with a box cake mix recipe, adding eyes and sprinkles over melted chocolate wafers.
Upside down cupcakes in adorable cups with heaps of frosting, Bugles for horns and candy eyes are delicious!
The best part is the gumball tail saved for eating last!
The monster lollipops from Oriental Trading are pretty crazy adorably scary too!
They are perfect for the finishing touch on a treat bag!

The first step of any party that sets the theme and tone is the invitation. I used my rectangle Shapester die for this, along with washi tape and google eyes from Oriental Trading. The darling paper is from my new line with AdornIt! The great thing about this die is it fits perfectly as a card or invitation into a standard envelope.
