Let’s make two fun puppy crafts for kids. They are both great for all ages.

Puppies and kids just go together. This is a darling and super fun little crafty project that can be made by kids of all ages. It includes lots of great things like painting, cutting and glueing so allows for lots of creative possibilities.

Puppy Dog Crafts for Kids

Both of these are super easy and don’t require many supplies. I sure hope you have a ball making them with your kids at home or in the classroom!

Materials and Supplies Needed for Paper Plate Puppy

You will need the following supplies to make this puppy craft.

  • Paper Plates
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Felt
  • Glue
  • Google Eyes
  • Scissors

Step One

Directions to Make Paper Plate Puppies

Start by painting the paper plate the color of the puppy that is being made. If the puppy is white it doesn’t have to be painted.

Next, add dots or spots or other colors to the puppy being painted.

Step Two

Cut ears and a nose out of felt. If extra fur is desired, cut that out too. There are no rules on what can be added so if kids want to get creative and add things, let them. Artwork and crafting is a great time to let kids explore their imagination and be creative.

I used Kunin Group’s eco-fi classic felt in several colors.  These can be any shape and size because puppies come in all shapes and sizes!  Felt is a great medium for kids because it cuts easily and doesn’t fray.

Glue the felt pieces AND google eyes to the puppy painted on the plate.

You could use these same supplies and make a whole pet shop filled with animals.

Watercolor and Glue Puppy Craft

Step One

Doodle a puppy on watercolor paper using glue. Let the glue dry completely which might take a few hours. This is a good time to watch a fun dog movie or go to the dog park and play with the pups.

Step Two

Use watercolor paints to color the puppy doodle. The glue will act as a resist and a border to boundary the design from the rest of the paper. When it is dry, glue on google eyes. These could also be painted on or added with permanent marker.

Step Three

Use the paints to create a fun design around the puppy. This is a great opportunity to experiment with color mixing using watercolors.

Hang your masterpiece someplace special. Framing it is a good idea too, especially if you are going to gift it to a friend. These are so much fun when lots of kids make them at the same time. They all come out looking so different!
