Gnome Advent Calendar to Make at Home

I create a gnome advent calendar to make at home that is easy and fun for those of you who love gnome and are getting ready for the holiday season.  I love to watercolor so I used ooly’s watercolor paint pods to color the gnomes that I drew first with a permanent marker (on watercolor paper of course).  I think this advent calendar is wonderful because it is small and works great in places that might not have a large wall or mantle for decorating.  It would also be good in a classroom with 25 paper messages or coupons in side the little kraft bags.  I created a couple of other advent calendars this year too with some of my favorite ooly art products so am excited to share them all here and on FOX News.  This post is sponsored by ooly but the ideas and opinions are my own.

Advent Calendars Kids Make at Home

Let’s talk about gnomes for a minutes.  I am obsessed this year.  They are popping up everywhere and I love them all.  They are just so darling, funny and mischievous.  I bought some. I made some.  I have them around my house getting it ready for Christmas!  This advent calendar is a perfect addition.

Advent Calendar Paper Bags Gnomes

To get started with the gnome advent calendar, you will need the following supplies and materials.

  • ooly lil’ Watercolor Paint Pods
  • Watercolor Paper
  • Black Permanent Marker
  • Scissors
  • 25 Paper Bags (Whatever Size you Like)
  • Twine or Ribbon
  • Glue or Adhesive Runner
  • Goodies to Put in Bags
  • Basket or Bucket
  • OPTIONAL (Ready to Go Gnomes on a  Printable)

Start by drawing 25 tiny gnomes.  You can copy mine if you want.  Paint the gnomes and let them dry.

Tie twine to your little bags.

Number the bags 1-25.

Cut out the gnomes.

Glue the gnomes to the bags then fill them with goodies or messages.

Put the bags in a basket or bucket and you are ready for December 1st to come.  If you are passed that date, start today.  It is never too late to jump in and celebrate.

Over on the ooly blog I shared this advent calendar using Chunkies Paint Sticks.  It is tons of fun for the kids to help create.
