It was super fun to make this Creative Back to School Polka Dotted Rainbow Bulletin Board with Oly*Fun.  I so miss being in a classroom during this special time of year so jump at every chance to create things for my friends who are still teaching.  During Back To School Night, lots of teachers have ways that they request supplies and donations from parents and families.  This rainbow dots bulletin board is a great way to create that statement AND be ready for a new purpose afterwards.  This post is sponsored by Fairfield World, the makers of Oly*Fun, but the ideas and opinions are my own.

Creative Bulletin Boards with OlyFun by Fairfield World

To create the polka dotted rainbow bulletin board, you will need:

  • Oly*Fun in bright colors and a color for the background.  These are the colors I used…
    • SAND (Background)
    • Bubble Gum
    • Cherry Pop
    • Orange Crush
    • Lemon Drop
    • Clover
    • Kiwi
    • Sky Blue
  • Paper to create pattern
  • Marker or Pen
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Something Round to Trace for Polka Dots

Step One:

Cover the bulletin board with Sand Oly*Fun

Step Two:

Create a triangle pattern from a piece of card stock and use it to trace onto Oly*Fun.  To make it easiest to cut without slipping, staple the pattern to the Oly*Fun in one place then gently remove the staple once cut.

Attach the triangle pennants with a stapler across the top of the bulletin board.

Step Three:

Create polka dots from Oly*Fun by tracing something circular and then cutting them out in the same manner as the triangle pennants.  These dots are the size of a frosting lid!

Staple the Oly*Fun polka dots around the bulletin board.

Step Four:

Add framed cards to the bulletin board with the items on the wish list.  There is a free downloadable printable of two sizes of frames that can be easily cut out.  The only thing needed here is to add the desired supplies and materials.  Parents can remove them from the bulletin board if they are planning to send them in.

Ta Da!

Oly*Fun is a great material for creating bulletin boards because it is bright, cheery and easy to work with.  It has the texture of fabric while acting like paper.  It is called “The everything material” It is one of the easiest, most versatile materials you will ever find. You can sew it, glue it, staple it, pin it or tie it. You can write on it, paint it, embellish it, stamp it or stencil it. You can scissor, rotary, or die cut it. The only thing it won’t do is fray, tear, or fade.  It can be ironed on a cool setting with a press cloth!

When decorating a classroom for Back to School or anytime of the year, Oly*Fun is an awesome resource.  This sun pillow and garland would be darling in a reading corner.

Little flags would be super fun for classroom helper jobs or reading genre signs.  These are for summer fun but could easily be altered.

Of course every classroom needs a mascot that can go back and forth to homes.  This darling one is made with Oly*Fun!  You can grab all of the directions and details HERE.

YAY for Back to School!
