I am in love with my Cricut Explore Air 2 for ALL the reasons. It is, without a doubt, the most amazing tool for creating DIY projects that I have ever used. Because of it’s capabilities and options, the possibilities are endless. To say it in just a few words, the Explore Air 2 has inspired me to take my designing to a new level!
Let’s Talk About the Cricut Explore Air 2
The Cricut Explore Air 2 cuts through so many different things. I have created projects with paper, card stock, vinyl and iron-on vinyl with my Cricut Explore Air 2. It is really fun to be the maker, but it is even better to gift the completed projects to friends and family. There are so many Easy DIY Vinyl Projects with the Cricut Explore Air 2. I am meeting a friend for coffee today and taking her this adorable Kindness is Like Coffee sign that I whipped up with my new machine. I am so excited to share with you how I made it later in this post. But first, check out my Cricut Air Explore 2. The first thing I did when I got it was create my logo with vinyl and personalize the top.
Let’s Make Something!
To create the Kindness is Like Coffee sign, you will need the following materials and supplies:
- Cricut Explore Air 2
- Cricut Vinyl (Any 2 Colors You Love)
- Cricut VInyl Transfer Tape
- Cricut Weeding Tool
- Cricut Scraper
- Sign with a Clean Smooth Surface
- Ribbon or Twine
STEPS:
Start by bringing the design up in Cricut Design Space. Size it to fit your sign surface by using the Customize option.
Because the words are a different color than the heart, you will need two colors of vinyl. Place the first color on a Cricut mat with the vinyl facing up to cut out the letters. Then reload the mat and cut the heart. The words will need to be weeded (removing the parts that are not meant to be in the design) and there is a perfect tool for this!
Once the words are weeded, it’s time to get them on the sign. Use Cricut Vinyl Transfer Tape for this step. Cut a piece the size of your design and peel it from the backing. Place it over the designs and then use a Cricut Scraper Tool to rub over it. When the transfer tape is peeled off, the letters will come with it, allowing placement on the sign to be precise.
Place the design on your sign and then use that awesome scraper tool again to rub over the design, ensuring that it adheres to the sign.
Peel off the tape and just like magic, the sign is almost complete.
Follow the same steps to add the heart. If desired, add a bow with ribbon or twine to embellish the sign.
Storage is so important. The Cricut Explore Air 2 has great compartments for keeping the tools handy and organized. This matters a lot to me. So often there is A LOT happening in my studio so having places for things to belong is key! I kind of consider this the extra bonus to this already amazing crafting machine. Stay tuned because I am planning to share LOTS more fun projects using my Cricut Explore Air 2 AND some awesome storage ideas.
