Make a batch of Butterbeer Pancakes for your Harry Potter family!

These would be so super fun to serve for a Harry Potter themed birthday party meal like the breakfast on the morning after a slumber party.  I also think they would be really fun to serve at a Harry Potter pajama party which could be any time of day!  You could use and pancake batter mix for this really. However, I used Hungry Harry’s mix because it is gluten free and allergy friendly.  This is such a great idea because it makes it inclusive to kids with special dietary needs. This the recipe for the best butterbeer pancakes.

Ingredients Needed for Butterbeer Pancake Recipe

  • 3 Cups Made Up Pancake Batter
  • 1 Cup Butterscotch Morsels
  • 2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1/2 TSP Butter Extract
  • 1/2 TSP Caramel Flavoring

Directions to Make Pancakes

These are really easy peasy to make. The secret is finding out how much flavoring is right for your taste. Some people prefer theirs to be extremely sweet while others prefer to take it easy on the extra morsels and whipped cream. Follow pancake mix directions and add 1 C butterscotch morsels to make the butterbeer pancakes. If you make homemade pancake batter mix – good for you! If you are like me and do things halfway homemade most of the time, use your favorite store bought mix. There are so many great ones to choose from these days.

The next step is to prepare your griddle.  Add 2 TSP cooking oil to the griddle and heat to 325 degrees.

Why do my pancakes stick to the griddle?

If your pancakes are sticking to the griddle it could be due to several reasons.

  • One, The temperature of your pan may be way too hot. Keep it close to 325 degrees. If it gets too hot, the oil will burn and so will the pancakes. This makes them stick.
  • Make sure you wait to flip the pancake until the first side is fully cooked.
  • It is possible that you didn’t put enough oil on your griddle. If necessary, add more and evenly spread it out..

Cook the butterbeer pancakes on HOT griddle (325 degrees) until one side is golden brown and the center is bubbling. Flip and cook on the other side. Watch the pancakes closely. It is impossible to give the exact length of time for how long to cook a pancake.  Watch for the top to has several bubbles and the sides start browning then flip them over.

Add homemade whipped cream with the added flavors of butter extract and caramel flavoring to taste.  Top with chopped butterscotch morsels for extra sweetness.
