DIY Black Cat Decor with Free Pattern
Halloween is the perfect season to celebrate with handmade decor and this DIY Black Cat Decor with Free Pattern project is perfect. There are actually TWO versions of the black cat crafty patterns because one is perfect for sewing handmade plush cats and the other for applique or paper crafting. Black Cat Decor Plush
Making this adorable black cat is easy so it is perfect for a beginner sewing project.
You will need the following:
- FREE downloadable pattern – The one with the heart
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Straight Pins
- Poly-FIl from Fairfield World
- Sewing Machine
- Needle and Thread
- Ribbon or Twine
Directions
Start by using the pattern to cut out a front and back cat for your plush. The side of the fabric with the pattern should be facing in towards each other when you cut the two pieces out.
Pin the pieces together.
Sew around the edge with a 1/4 inch seam allowance, leaving the belly section open.
Remove the pins and flip the cat.
Stuff with Poly-Fil until firm then use the needle/thread to sew the opening closed. The stuffing tool comes in SUPER handy for this step.
Tie some ribbon or twine around the neck and you are done.
