DIY Black Cat Decor with Free Pattern

Halloween is the perfect season to celebrate with handmade decor and this DIY Black Cat Decor with Free Pattern project is perfect.  There are actually TWO versions of the black cat crafty patterns because one is perfect for sewing handmade plush cats and the other for applique or paper crafting.  This post is sponsored by Fairfield World but the ideas and opinions are my own.  The adorable pumpkins are made with different colors of Kunin basic felt.

Black Cat Pattern for DIY Crafts

Black Cat Decor Plush

Making this adorable black cat is easy so it is perfect for a beginner sewing project.

You will need the following:

Directions

Start by using the pattern to cut out a front and back cat for your plush.  The side of the fabric with the pattern should be facing in towards each other when you cut the two pieces out.

Pin the pieces together.

Sew around the edge with a 1/4 inch seam allowance, leaving the belly section open.

Remove the pins and flip the cat.

Stuff with Poly-Fil until firm then use the needle/thread to sew the opening closed.  The stuffing tool comes in SUPER handy for this step.

Tie some ribbon or twine around the neck and you are done.

Black Cat Decor Applique

To make this project, cut the FREE pattern out (the one with the star)  and use it to make your black cat.

For this one I sewed a black felt cat onto fabric over a larger piece of felt.  I used the
