Gluten Free Pumpkin Sugar Cookies

Gluten free pumpkin sugar cookies are such a fun way to bake up a seasonal treat for your family and friends. I am huge fan of the spice mixed in with the canned pumpkin.  I really want to try this recipe with fresh pumpkin one of these days too. Baking cookies to gift to friends is one of my favorite ways to spread kindness.  Baked treats like these gluten free cookies are great to give to neighbors, teachers, co-workers, friends, nurses and well – really anyone at all. I love using gluten free recipe for school staff appreciation treats because often times there is a teacher who eats a gluten free diet.

Candies on Cookies

If you plan to add candies to the top and you want to be sure that the recipe is totally gluten free, be sure to check the candy that you buy before putting it on the baked cookies. While the mallowcremes are the most decorative, any kind of candy would work with this recipe. There are some good white chocolate bars that could be grated and added to the tops too.

Packaging the Cookies to Gift

These cookies are delicious and perfect for gifting.  They are pretty sturdy so package well in a little pillow box as well as a bag or plastic container. Hand stamping the packaging for baked goodies is always a really good idea. Making tags to attach to the cookies is super fun and adds such a special touch if you are putting the in a bag or a container.

You can get the stamps to make the adorable family designs from Thermoweb.

The stamps have so many little characters so you can design you own family or group of friends.

Here are 5 Fantastic Reasons to Bake Homemade Cookies!

I love baking. If anyone ever asks me why I take the time to bake and not just go to the bakery for cookies, here are my top five reasons to bake homemade cookies.

  1. Happiness is Homemade.  This little three word saying is plastered all over commercialized products like signs for the kitchen, towels and mugs. It is because it is true. Baking makes me happy and giving away homemade treats makes others happy. This leads right to number two.
  2. Homemade cookies create connections. It is an act of kindness to bake cookies and gift them. Time is a way to measure what matters and them time it takes to bake and deliver really show others how much you care. This is a great way to get your family involved in creating and giving.
  3. Baking homemade allows the ingredients to be 100% controlled.  This is really important when it comes to gluten free diets. It also matters a lot because many of my friends have nut allergies. I like to know what is in the cookie.
  4. Sharing recipes for homemade cookies shares traditions with others. We all have recipes and baking tips that have been passed down to us. Sharing these with others through the act of baking and giving helps keep the traditions alive.
  5. Baking homemade cookies builds a stronger family.  When families bake together, they have the chance to talk and share stories. We make homemade pizzelles every Christmas season and have photos that date back to when the kids were so little helping out. We love to make them and give them to our friends. They are so good. We even have friends who have asked for the recipe. We actually gifted a pizzelle maker to a family we super love. Here is a link to that amazing recipe.
