Halloween String Art with Craft Thread

String art is so much fun and such a great way to create holiday decor.  This Halloween string art with craft thread is a super simple and fabulous first-timer string art project.  This is the third day of my Halloween series for 2017 sharing ideas and ways to DIY, cook and craft up some festive fun in your home or your classroom.  String art is a fantastic way to get Girl Scouts working on their woodworking badge too.  With a little lesson in cutting the wood, safety and then making the project with a hammer and nails, Cadettes have earned their Woodworking badge.  Craft thread is awesome because it is made for projects like this.  It doesn’t fray or split so it works great.  This post is sponsored by DMC and uses Prism brand craft threads in a variety of colors.  The thoughts and ideas are my own.  Okay, let’s get started!

Print the patterns.  I created a free PDF that can be downloaded.

Cut them apart and lay them out on wood scraps.  They can be done separately or all together.

Hammer in nails onto the patterns where there are dots.   The best nails (in my opinion) for this are 1 1/2 inch wire nails.

When all of the nails are in, remove the paper and string your craft thread around the nails.  There is no real method for this.  Wrap it the way you think it looks good using the colors you like.  These are the colors used in this piece of art.

Ta Da!

Cheers to All Things Halloween,

Laura
