How to Make Slime With Different Things

I shared a super fun post two days ago featuring a recipe and activities. THEN, we did this! We added Slime Ballz to our recipe and OH MY GOODNESS! They are a game changer. They add texture to the goopy mixture that makes it more fun to mold in our hands.

This made us stop and think about all of the fun things that could be added to the recipe to give it colors, scents and texture. It is amazing just how far you can go to explore the science of this trend and the art of the project too.

Let’s explore how to make slime with different things.

Galactic Slime

This is an awesome recipe. It pairs up so great with outer space learning and party themes. This recipe adds color, glitter AND sequins!

Ingredients for Galactic Slime

Directions for Galactic Slime

  1. Mix the glue and baking soda completely.
  2. Add food coloring and knead it in.
  3. Add glitter and sequins.  Fine glitter alone will create a smoother slime.

Slime Ballz

Slime Ballz are great for all kiddos but they are especially good for kids who benefit from a higher lever of sensory input. Adding these tiny foam balls makes the slime therapeutic in the way it creates a calming and relaxing effect. The texture shift from slimy to gritty is quite simply amazing. The recipe for the slime base is the same one in the post that shares the activities booklet SLIME TIME.

The Slime Ballz work the best when added to the recipe while it is originally being made.  They just stick better into the goop at that time.

If you want to BUY Slime Ballz, you can get them on Amazon HERE.

Adding Sequins to SLIME

There is an awesome recipe for a GLASSY mix that we dreamt up. Adding sequins to it gave it such a fabulous feel and texture, again adding that next level of sensory input. This slime is shiny and sparkly – perfect for making in a classroom or at a kid’s birthday celebration or party. When exploring making the SLIME with Different Things, sequins, tiny buttons, tiny beads and gems are all great ideas.

Personally, I love buttons.

Activities to Do With Slime

here are lots of great activities in this book that I created to use this awesome opportunity to get creative.  Kids are great with their imaginations when they have a tool like slime as a vehicle.  You can get the printable book in my TpT store HERE.

One of my favorite activities in the book allows kids to become the mayor of Slimeville and invent the city, including the making of a map!

Best Ways to Use Free Printables

You might have seen this list from me before but I think it is worth sharing over and over. Sometimes the people in the back need to hear things a few times, right?  There are so many great ways to use free printables.  Here are some of my favorites.

  • Print them and mail in an envelope with a stamp. Snail mail rocks.
  • Batch some up to make an activity book.  This is great for a road trip!
  • Print and use at a place setting on the table to create a conversation starter.
  • Add them to goody bags.  By the way, goody bags are not just for birthday parties.
  • Package them up with your favorite markers and crayons to give as a gift.
  • Drop a few off at the local coffee shop with fun pencils to spread some happy.
  • Cut them up to make cards, gift wrap and decorations.

BEST Tools For Working With Free Printables

These are my favorite tools and art supplies to use with free printables and why I love them too.

  1. Printer – This Laser Printer is inexpensive and works like a charm.  It even works with Alexa.  Bonus!
  2. Scissors – Lots of printables can be cut up to create decorations and cards and things like that.
  3. Markers and Crayons – All thing ooly work the best for me.  I LOVE all of their markers, pencils and crayons.
  4. Colored Pencils – For adult coloring, PRISM makes the colored pencils that I love to use most.
  5. Twine – For creating banners and garlands from printables, I love this twine best.
  6. Adhesive – Lots of printables have pieces that get cut out and put together.  This is my fave tape runner!

So, when you are trying Slime with Different Things, you are learning and growing at the same time!

Happy Making ALL THINGS SLIMY,

Laura
