This fireplace mantel advent calendar was created using my die-cut machine from Sizzix and the Santa hat die that I designed and license to them to sell. I think it came out really cute and can’t wait to start sharing the treats tomorrow. YAY for December and for all of the celebrations.
I cut out 50 hats in red felt (25 fronts and 25 backs) and the fuzz with white for the fronts. I used eco-fi felt from Kunin Group.
I sewed them together, adding the white to the fronts first.
Then I sewed the fronts to the backs leaving the tops open to insert goodies.
The numbers were cut out using my LEMONADE Alphabet Die. I added the numbers with Aleene’s Quick Dry Fabric Fusion.
Ta Da! I hung them on a long piece of twine with clothespins. I love the way they look with our favorite children’s Christmas storybooks.
I only made 24 by accident so I decided to freehand sew a stocking for 25. I will put the first clue of a riddle hunt in it for Christmas morning to lead to a family surprise. NO, it is not going to be a pet.
Let the holiday season begin.
Cheers,
Laura
