Patchwork Pumpkin Interactive Pillow

Making things from fabric scraps is just the best.  This patchwork pumpkin interactive pillow turned out so darling that I simply must share it as part of the 2017 Halloween series.  I save my fabric scraps and group them by color just for times like this when I want to make something festive and fun.  This post was sponsored.  I received products form Velcro™ Brand and Fairfield World.  The ideas are my own.

Gather your supplies and materials.

  • Velcro™ Brand Iron On
  • Scrap Fabric
  • Poly-Fil Stuffing from Fairfield World
  • Crafter’s Choice Basic Pillow Form (12 inch) from Fairfield World
  • Scissors
  • Sewing Machine
  • Fabric Backing (Optional)

Start by sewing your fabric scraps together into a square a little larger than twelve inches (assuming you are using a twelve inch pillow form).  Sew the quilted piece to a solid piece of fabric measuring the same size, front to front, leaving the majority of the bottom side open.  Flip it to get it right-side out.  Use green fabric to make a leaf and brown to make a stem.  Sew them the same way and flip to right-side out.

Attach one side of Velcro™ Brand Iron On Tabs to the leaf and the stem.  Next, stuff your leaf and stem with Poly-Fil from Fairfield World and hand stitch them shut.

Iron tabs onto the pillow in the places where you would put eyes, a nose and mouth.

Stuff your pillow with a twelve inch Crafter’s Choice pillow form from Fairfield World then hand stitch it closed across the bottom. To make your face pieces, use patterned black fabric sewn together (with iron-on backing in between) then stitch shapes to be cut out.

Cut around the stitching (Zig Zag works best) to create face pieces.  Add the other sides to the Velcro Brand Iron On tabs to coordinate with your pieces already ironed on to the pillow.

Attach the pieces to the pillow to create jack-o-lantern looks.

Isn’t it the cutest.  If you reach a point where you are kind of over the orange pumpkin theme, you can always flip it to the other side.

Halloween is the best!  I LOVE it so much.  Thanks for sharing in my excitement of creating all the fun season things with me.

Cheers,

Laura
