I whipped this quilted Christmas tree throw pillow up using fabric scraps and my Dresden Template from Nancy’s Notion’s. I love when I can put my favorite little pieces of fabric to great use like this. This pillow makes a beautiful decoration and also is filled with memories, the memories of the larger pieces of the same fabric and the projects they created. This post is sponsored by Nancy’s Notions but the ideas and opinions are my own.
Supplies/Materials
- ½ Yard Fabric for Pillow Back
- Fabric Scraps
- Dresden Template
- Sewing Machine/Thread/Bobbin
- Long Pins
- Scissors
- Rotary Cutter
- Cutting Mat
- Showcase Throw Pillow Template
- Fairfield World PolyFil Stuffing
Directions:
Sew fabric scrap pieces together to form a patchwork quilt that measures 12 x 16 inches.
Trim the sides using a rotary cutter on a cutting mat then iron.
Use the Dresden template and a friction pen to trace the pattern onto green fabric. Cut out. Cut out a small brown fabric rectangle for a trunk and a yellow fabric star.
Iron the pieces then pin them to the patchwork piece to create a Christmas tree.
Sew the pieces to the patchwork piece using a zig zag stitch around each piece.
Cut a 12 x 16 inch piece of fabric for the back. Use the Showcase Throw Pillow Template on of your corner for front and back.
Sew the patchwork piece to the back piece with the sides you want to be on the outside facing each other. Leave a four inch opening.
Stuff the pillow with PolyFil.
Hand stitch the opening to close the pillow.
Ta Da! Be sure to check out my last two posts. They both have great ideas of ways to sew up some Christmas decor and cheer with Nancy’s Notions too.

Laura
