Red White and Blue Layered Patriotic Milkshakes

Create festive patriotic milkshakes to celebrate the 4th of July and all of the other USA holidays and theme parties. These would even be fun for kiddos at election time.

Milkshakes are such a fun sweet treat to cool off a hot fourth of July or celebrate an election win! This recipe is simple and 100% delicious.

Ingredients for Patriotic Milkshakes

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1 ½ c milk
  • Red & blue food coloring
  • Whipped cream
  • Sprinkles to decorate

Directions to Make Layered Patriotic Milkshakes

Start by placing your glasses in the freezer and allow to chill until ready to assemble. This will help keep the layers from melting into each other. While any glasses work , these are the PERFECT glasses for making fancier layered milkshakes.

In a blender, combine 3-4 large scoops of ice cream with ½ c milk and blue food coloring.  Blend until smooth. Pour the prepared blue milkshake mix into the chilled glasses.  Return to the freezer until ready to assemble.

In a blender, combine 3-4 large scoops of ice cream with ½ c of milk – blend until smooth. Pour the prepared white milkshake mix into the chilled glasses.  Return to the freezer until ready to assemble.

Back in the cleaned out blender, combine the 3-4 large scoops of ice cream with ½ c of milk and red food coloring.  Blend until smooth.  Pour the prepared red milkshake mix into the chilled glasses.  Freeze until ready to serve.

When you are ready to serve the milkshakes, top with a large dollop of whipped cream and sprinkles to decorate. This is one of my favorite sprinkle mixes!

Add patriotic themed straws for a final touch of magic.
