It is the perfect time to share a summertime coastal felt garland AND a giveaway with an awesome prize. I have been sharing these garlands throughout the year and you guys have been LOVING them. I decided to create a fun summertime felt garland with my ocean life dies that I designed for Sizzix, felt and my favorite glue…Beacon Felt Glue. I used the dies to create the DIY summer garland in this post but am also sharing a pattern for those of you who don’t have the machine. Whether you use the die-cut machine and dies OR the pattern, you are sure to be successful because working with Beacon Felt Glue and felt from Kunin is easy peasy and super fun. This post is sponsored by Beacon. I am also a member of the Kunin Felt Dream Design Team and get my felt from the company.
Okay, let’s make a DIY summertime felt garland decoration. To get started you will need the following materials and supplies.
- Beacon Felt Glue (You can also use Fabri-Tac if you want a quicker drying solution.)
- Scissors
- Kunin Felt in a Variety of Colors
- Sizzix Big Shot Machine and Laura Kelly Ocean Life Dies OR Sea Life Pattern
- Twine
Create the back pieces for the garland by cutting out TWO rectangles for each. They can be whatever size you like. The ones in this project measure 5 inches wide by 6 inches tall. Because this garland has 6 pieces, it took 12 rectangles. Next cut out your ocean life animals, either using the dies or the pattern. You can download the pattern HERE for free.
Once the animals are all cut out (with extra color accent pieces for each), lay them out and get them ready to glue. Glue the animal pieces together then adhere them each to a rectangle for your summertime felt garland.
The magic of putting the garland together is in the way the rectangles are made. Put a thick line of glue across the tops of the blank rectangles then adhere the decorated ones to them.
Once the glue is all dry (I like to give it at least four hours), hang the rectangles over a piece of twine. Ta Da!

Thank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party. Pinned.
My Bigshot just died and my 7 year old granddaughter is heartbroken! We would spend many hours making sea life banners, felt books, iron on creatures to put on T-shirts during Birthday parties, covering a Jean skirt, Jean jacket and pair of jeans so we can have matching outfits to wear when we go out and take the world by storm if we are the lucky winners!
Thank you for the awesome chance to win this amazing giveaway prize, due to my health we canβt go do typical fun. And games but we really rock the world when we get crafty together! ???????β¨?β¨?β¨?
I love this! Your granddaughter is lucky to have you!
I am the lucky one because she makes me see things through her eyes and I learn so much from her!
