The Mountains Are Calling

The mountains are calling and I must go.  For real.  This morning when I drove J to school, the view from the top of the hill was breathtaking.  The skies are clear and the mountains are glistening with magic that radiates all the way to my neighborhood in Centennial, CO.  And so I must listen to my inner voice that is screaming, pack up and go.  I am heading to Winter Park, Colorado on Friday for a long weekend to retreat, play and renew my spirit.  I took a few minutes to doodle and paint a printable to share with you, believing that I am not the only one being called. <3

By the way, this is the view from the stoplight at 8 am this morning.  Yes, the mountains are calling.

And this is me in my front yard pretending to already be there for a brief moment before slaying this day of work stuff.

You can download the printable already painted and ready to frame OR as a black/white line art design to be colored.  Just click on the one you want and BOOM, you will get a FREE PDF file.

  1. Certainly looks like a fun weekend. I’m more into sitting by the fire and watching the views…maybe working on a craft.
    Have fun!

  2. I live near the snowy mountains in Utah and love to be out in nature and take photographs and look for wildlife. They call to me often!

  3. We are having a wonderful winter with lots of snow in the Midwest this year. I am loving getting plenty of cross country skiing and snowshoeing in!

  4. I have fond memories of staying in a cabin by a stream outside of Boulder and fishing in the river as the snow fell. So cool to see the snow line getting closer as you drive toward the mountains… Have fun on your trip!

  5. The mountains are TRULY magical! Some of my best memories are of spending summers in the mountains as a camp counselor at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Church camp! AMAZING!! Hiking, singing songs around the campfire, meeting new friends and white water rafting, just to name a few of the amazing things. Lets not forget skiing as well. I’m so jealous! Its my dream to live someplace with mountains someday!

  6. I have never been to snowy mountains but I imagine I would like to take walks and maybe try cross country skiing. We do use snow shoes on our property but it is flat.

  7. Colorado is on my list of places to visit. I would love to cross country ski, snow shoe, or just curl up with some hot beverage and a good book in front of a fire.

  8. I just like to look, just take it all in. I live in FL, and I love it here. But it is flat, and there is no snow. So, as happened on a visit to Vail once, I would simply be in awe and appreciate the beauty surrounding me ~!

  9. I enjoy sitting by a real fire, sipping a warm drink and cuddling up with a great book. It helps incredibly if I have a large window to gaze out at the snowy mountains!

  10. I used to snowmobile but now I am content taking walks, enjoying nature, and then going inside by a warm fire with a hot drink.

  11. I don’t live near any mountains so I enjoy looking at pictures and hearing about other people’s adventures. I did climb a small mountain, and went on a train to the peak of another one.

  12. Nothing like sitting in the hot springs and seeing the mountains with the snow gently falling on you in the hot pool or one of the tubs. So lovely to watch the deer and elk go by.

  13. Snow falling gently on one while sitting in the hot springs and seeing the mountains and the animals. So lovely to watch the deer and elk go by. Making snow angels, and drinking hot cocoa.

  14. I don’t live in the mountains but if I were to visit and doing fun things in the snowy mountains like go snow tubing. I did that one year and it was fun it’s been years though.

  15. I live around 2 hours from Lake Tohoe in California..an you would think in snow season I would at least visit up there. I’m gonna go with at least 4 years it’s been since I went up North…and it was durning the summer. Let’s just say that over 10 years ago I went snowboarding first and only time…soooooo much fun!!! Winter and snowboarding is where it is…though I was young then…now I have a bad knee..lol old bodies are fun..I’ll hang on to my memory!!! 😉

  16. We used to have a cabin in Jemez Mountains. Absolutely loved sledding and riding the 4 wheeler in the snow!

  21. Well I used to ski or snowboard, but haven’t done either in over 10 years, now I just like to sip hot chocolate and make snow angels or throw snowballs at the kids, hehehe.

  22. I’m disabled so there’s no skiing for me but I can definitely enjoy a nice warm fireplace with my husband!

  23. It doesn’t snow where I live, so I haven’t spent much time in snowy mountains. I went skiing once and that was my only time in snowy mountains. I would love to make a snowman one day and I think sliding down on a tube would be really fun too.

  24. I feel so lucky to live very close to the mountains! I love skiing, snowboarding and tobogganging! Also, sitting inside by the fire with a good book 😛

  25. We have been to this YMCA of the Rockies in the wintertime. It is beautiful! We love to go on a guided snowshoe hike and if the snow is not too deep or too frigid we loved having bonfires in the early evening with hot chocolate and cider.

  26. I love hiking in he snowy mountains . Would love to go before the winter over . Nothing like a cabin in the middle of nowhere .

  27. I’ve never been to the snowy mountains, so maybe I would try snow shoeing or cross country skiing and have lots of hot chocolate!

  28. I would love to breathe in the fresh air of the snowy mountains. I would probably take a lot of pictures and just enjoy the peace and serenity that would surround me.

  29. If I were in the snowy mountains I would love to spend my days snuggled up by a big warm fire and a hot cup of coffee in one hand and a good book in the other!
