I will be the very first to admit that I am a beginning quilter, as it total beginner. I still love it and have found ways to create projects that are darling and perfect for decorating around my home. These easy quilted Valentines projects are great because I believe that if I can make them, so can you! This post is sponsored by Fairfield World but the ideas and opinions are my own.
What Will Be Needed?
These are the supplies and materials needed to make these adorable easy quilted Valentine projects.
- Quilters 80/20 Batting
- Soften Interfacing
- Poly-Pellets
- Poly-Fil
- Fabric
- Sewing Machine
- Straight Pins
- Scissors
- Rotary Cutter
- Cutting Mat
Making the Quilted Valentine Pillow
Start by cutting 3 inch squares from different fabrics using a rotary cutter and mat.
Lay the squares out to create a design. Iron each piece to 3 inch square of Soften Interfacing to make it sturdy. To create a 12 inch pillow, sew four rows of four squares together then sew the rows together.
Cut a piece of fabric a tad larger than your quilted piece.
Face the pieces that you want facing the outside together and sew around the edge with a 1/4 inch inseam. Flip and stuff with Poly-Fil OR use a pillow form.
Make the Valentine MUG RUG
Use the same steps above but add a layer of 80/20 batting in the center then quilt around the squares and the sides to complete.
A friendly tip for making mug rugs is to use fabrics that are the same thickness so your end result is even. Nobody wants their coffee to spill!
Let’s Make Valentine Pin Cushions
Use the same steps as above (using 4 fabric squares only). Once they are sewn together and to a back then flipped, stuff with Poly-Pellets.
Stitch TIGHTLY through the center to create the pin cushion then sew on a button or a charm. Charms with saying add a very special little touch!
There are so so so many ways to use these fantastic products from Fairfield World to make home decor, gifts and party favors. I am excited to be partnering with Fairfield World to give away a 5 pound box of Poly-Fil! YEP! It is happening over on Instagram! You can comment on this blog post to enter too!
YAY!
Cheers to Handmade Valentines!
