Two things that go great together – broccoli and maraschino cherries.
We love salads all year round. This is a great one to serve in the heat of the summer with fresh from the grill goodness or in the middle of the winter with something yummy baked in the oven. Sometimes the magic of the best recipes comes when mixing ingredients unexpected. That is how this happened. The kids asked me to add the cherries to the family recipe as I was making it and BAM — it turned out amazing.

Believe it or not, these two things just GO together!

Ingredients
- 1 Large Head Broccoli
- 1/4 C Chopped Red Onion
- 1/2 C Blueberries
- 1/2 C Chopped Maraschino Cherries
- 1 C Mayo
- 2 TBSP Spice Mix (Salt, Pepper, Garlic
Directions
- Clean the broccoli and pat it dry. Cut into bite size pieces and put in a large bowl.
- Add the chopped onion, mayo, spices, nuts and cherries.
- Gently stir all ingredients together.
- Chill for several hours before serving.
It really is easy peasy to make because it is just some chopping then mixing.

Hmm, cherries with broccoli? Definitely looks good and worth a try!
This is VERY different than anything I’ve seen, and who doesn’t like cherries?
Could you clarify a couple of the ingredients please? I presume you mean 1/3 (not 3/3) cup of cherries, but do you really mean 1 Tablespoon of pepper? If that is the correct amount, do you mean regular black pepper? Your photo doesn’t really look like freshly ground black pepper but I just can’t tell. Thank you for helping me out.
Oh how I love the added ingredients of sunflower seeds and blueberries! Looks so yummy. I can’t wait to try this recipe!

I admit I would never have thought about this combination, but you are selling me on it. May be worth a try!
I had never thought of the two together either. Very clever
Yep. 1/3 C. and whatever pepper you find clever works great!
What an interesting combination. I’ve never thought of putting broccoli with cherries and blueberries. We are always up for a new recipe!
