Polymer clay wraps are a trendy and fun way to up your home decor game.

I love this because it creates the opportunity to color match for home decor with texture and style. Using some of these new colors from Sculpey molded the perfect piece for springtime in my studio. The jar is perfect for holding flowers, art supplies and even utensils. I am going to use it for the paintbrushes that get used daily. This technique would work around any glass or ceramic jar – even recycled food containers. Let’s make it!
Materials and Supplies Needed
- Sculpey III Polymer Clay
- Silicone Mat
- Roller
- Knife or Cutter Tool
- Oven for Baking
- Jar
Directions to make Clay Wrapped Jar Decor
Start by opening up the clay and separating 1/4 from each color being used.

Step One
Roll the clay into softened balls, one color at a time. Then break them apart and push all the pieces closely together.

Step Two
Roll the clay into a flat slab, approximately 1/8 inch thick.

Step Three
Cut the slab down the middle and place the two pieces side by side lengthwise. This will allow the slab to be elongated in a way that gives it the length to wrap around the jar or container.

Step Four
Roll it again to smooth the connecting points of the two slabs and create your final wrap. If desired, roll it up into another ball and do the process again to get a different look.

Step Five
Wrap around the jar and press tightly at the seam to mold the ends together. Trim off any extra with your cutting tool.

Step Six
Bake for 15 minutes at 275 degrees in a preheated oven. Let cool completely before touching.
