DIY Farmhouse Valentine Decor Twine Heart

Decorating for Valentine’s Day is a great way to create a festive transition when all of the winter holiday things get packed up and put back into storage. It take about an hour to make and creates a beautiful work of art. I love that it can be done in any colorway and actually for any holiday. After all, the shape could be of anything but for this project, it is a heart. I used some of my favorite products from Hemptique and can’t wait to share the directions with you.  Keeping it simple and elegant is easy with this DIY farmhouse Valentine decor twine heart.

DIY Farmhouse Valentine Decor with Hemp Cord and Rope

Materials Needed for DIY Farmhouse Decor

Pro Tip: After opening the hemp rope, wrap it around an old spool to keep it from tangling while you work with it. I actually like it wrapped on the spool as a piece of decor! DIY Farmhouse Valentine Decor is festive and fun while being classy at the same time. This would be perfect on a farmhouse table or set of shelves.

Directions to Make DIY Rustic Farmhouse Valentine Decor

Step One

Start by measuring a piece of the 4 mm hemp rope to be the length of your heart plus an extra inch on each end. The extra rope will end up being cut off once the wrapping of the cord is complete.

Step Two

Use washi tape to wrap both ends of the rope. This will keep it in good shape while you wrap the cord around the rope. This is actually a very important step. An alternative to washi tape is masking tape.

Step Three

Tie the hemp cord in a tight knot near one end of the rope and wrap it (TIGHTLY) around until you get to the other end. Tie it off in another tight knot.

Step Four

Cut the extra rope off of the ends and use hot glue to attach the two ends of the rope. Glue the cord wrapped rope in the shape of the heart to your surface. To be successful with this step, glue a small section at a time and hold it down until the glue cools.

Step Five

If desired, add another color of cord to the heart in the form of a knot, bow, pom-pom or even maybe a tassel.

I added the knot over the area where the two ends connect. It covers it up which is good if your connection looks a little wonky.

Reasons to Decorate Your Home

There are so many great reasons to decorate your home.  The decor determines the mood and the feel for your family and all who enter. It is a form of expression.  A home that is well decorated can lower anxiety and create a sense of ease and peace.  Different rooms can have different vibes determined solely by the decor — from the colors to the furniture to the accent decor.  Here are my top five reasons to decorate your home and invest in the process.

  1. A well decorated room creates a space for healthy living including the atmosphere as well as the functionality.
  2. Decorated spaces can promote well being, creativity, better rest, etc.
  3. It is fun.
  4. Home decor can change with the seasons, the holidays, and the times. It is a way to update style.
  5. There are no rules to home decorating. Your home is unique to you and your family.

Cheers to DIY Valentine Decor!
