Elf on the Shelf Mini Sugar Cookie Recipe

The Elves on the Shelves are back and this time with halfway homemade sweet treats for all.

The Elf on the Shelf loves treats too. Whip up some magical memories this holiday season that include your elf sharing sweets treats. It is fun to have the cookies already baked and ready to eat, it might also be a lot of fun to have them baked but have the frosting ready for your kids to do the decorating.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a few baking sheets with parchment, set aside.
  2. Divide each pre-portioned sugar cookie into fourths to create mini sized sugar cookies.
  3. Place on the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between the cookie dough.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 7 minutes or just until the edges begin to brown and centers are set.  Allow to cool completely before decorating.
  5. Meanwhile, divide the frosting into thirds.  Tint one red, another one green and leave the remaining third white.
  6. Once the cookies are cool, spread the frosting over the top of each cookie.

Add a final decorative sweet topping and throw some holiday sprinkles on the wet icing. This is the perfect way to complete these adorable and yummy halfway homemade sugar cookies.

Isn’t this elf adorable. She came with the most daring little apron for baking.

Reasons Elf on the Shelf Brings Snacks

There are so many magical reasons why your elf might bring snacks! Here are a few.

  • Elves love treats too — maybe your elf wanted to share one of their favorite North Pole snacks.
  • A reward for good behavior — the elf noticed someone being extra kind or helpful.
  • A note from Santa — Santa might have sent the elf with a snack to encourage holiday cheer.
  • A special mission — the elf could be delivering “fuel” for a big day of holiday activities.
  • Easy morning surprise — snacks are a simple, low-effort elf idea that still feels exciting.
  • Build anticipation — kids love edible surprises, making the elf’s visit more memorable.
  • Tie-in to an activity — a snack can match a theme (movie night, baking day, decorating cookies, etc.).
  • Elves want to spread joy — what spreads joy better than treats?
  • Sharing is caring — the elf might be showing good manners by sharing with the family.

  1. This mini sugar cookie idea from Me and My Inklings is absolutely adorable and such a fun way to make holiday mornings magical for kids and adults too. If you want a treat after baking these festive bites, I also love grabbing something savory from a place like Sakura of Japan Teriyaki Japan menu – their chicken and shrimp teriyaki combos are a delicious contrast to sweet cookies and perfect for refueling after a morning of decorating https://www.sakuraofjapan.com/teriyaki-japan-menu
