Directions for Foiled Pumpkin Garland
Handmade decorations for Halloween are my favorite. For the record, Halloween is my favorite holiday too! This garland can be made to be any length and any size at all. I think it is super fun in the size of the papers for the pumpkins but you could make it larger or smaller too.
Step 1
Foil the six different designs with Silver Wand foil using a heat laminator. You can get TONS of details about how to do this step on the Therm-O-Web blog. My semi-pro foiling tip is to run the paper with the foil through TWICE just to be sure you get the best coverage.
Step 2
Adhere the foiled paper to chipboard with either Therm-O-Web tape runner or Easy Tear Tape.
Step 3
Cut pumpkins out of the papers, including the stem. This can be done using a die-cut machine or by hand. I cut my freehand but there are tons of patterns on my blog if you’d prefer.
Step 4
Color the pumpkins with water based markers.
Step 5
Make green bows from ribbon and attach to pumpkins with Easy Tear Tape.
The ribbons look like leaves and vines which really compliments the pumpkins.
Step 6
Punch holes in the top sides of the pumpkins and thread together with twine. Add tied pieces of ribbons between the pumpkins for extra pops of color.
Hang your garland to add a festive touch of decor to any area of your home, classroom or office space.
I love the shiny pumpkins and think they would be adorable on cards or gift tags too. I very well might be making many more of these for boo bags for my neighbors.
Another FOIL Pumpkin Craft Idea
This paper plate pumpkin garland is a ton of fun too. All of the details for making it are on the blog!
Five Reasons to Papercraft
I think that paper crafting is such a great idea for so many reasons. Here are my top five to share with you.
- Paper crafting promotes creativity.
- Making things with paper can be therapy. It can be a form of expression in times when verbal communication is difficult.
- Crafting with paper tends to be a little less expensive than some other types of crafting.
- Decorations made with paper are lightweight and easy to hang.
- Cards are made with paper and handmade cards being sent in the mail is always a fantastic idea.
Cheers!
