Once the carrots are created, the possibilities are endless. Because the carrots for the glow in the dark carrot hunt are lightweight and flexible, they can be hid is so many secretive and awesome places. Beacon has a new product hitting the markets and it is Glo-Brite. This post is sponsored by Beacon Adhesives but the ideas and opinions are my own.
Before we make the carrots, let’s talk a little about Glow-Brite. It is a glow in the dark marking gel that creates a permanent result, like glue. It dries fast which of course, I love. It is waterproof so great for marking outdoor items like tennis shoes and kiddo backpacks. I love it because it is a fun addition to crafty projects but also very useful in my everyday life. I cannot wait to use it on some Girl Scout camping supplies. It adheres to so many different surfaces like wood, clothing, metal and more. It even works on felt and so gosh, let’s use some and make carrots.
To make the glow in the dark carrots, you will need the following supplies:
- Kunin Premium Felt, Orange and Green
- Beacon Fabri-Tac
- Beacon Glo-Brite (Orange and Green)
- Scissors
- Sizzix Die-Cut Machine and Laura Kelly Vegetable Die with Carrot (Or Free Pattern)
- Paper and Pen to Doodle a Carrot Hunt Sign
Start by cutting out a minimum of 50 carrots in orange and green. The more you make, the funner the carrot hunt.
Cut the orange carrots to remove the tops and glue them on to the green carrots with Fabri-Tac.
Add Glo-Brite glue squiggles to the carrots and let them dry.
Doodle a darling Carrot Hunt printable and make a sign for the event. This is a great way to involve the kids.
Hide the carrots.
Hunt! Whoever find the most carrots wins! There are a couple of ways to modify the carrot hunt for older kids.
- Staple the carrots to folded dollar bills.
- Add real carrots to the hunt and have them be work 2 points.
- Use the carrots in a riddle hunt with clues sending kids around the neighborhood.
