I Can Dress Myself – Literature Connection Crafts and Fun

I found this book at Second and Charles a couple of weeks ago and if you know me, you know that I am carrot crazy.  The fact that this main character, Daisy, has a carrot for a companion about flipped me out right in the store.  I bought both copies, one to keep and one to give a way.  The book is a great story about becoming independent, respecting parents and kindness.  It is titled I Can Dress Myself and written by Birte Muller.

I used my Me and My Peeps die from Ellison Education and turned the girl into a bunny in a few quick steps.

I used the Vegetables die from the Nutrition collection to make her companion, Rootie.

Can you even stand that darling name.  I want a Rootie in my life.  You can bet I am going to be making one very soon out of felt!  Here is a close up picture of Rootie displaying a passionate hatred for the color purple.

The Me and My Peeps dies come with lots of clothing.  They could be used in so many ways with this story to create classroom activities or bedroom charts for organization.

Creating connections between stories and life is so great for kids.  It helps them to understand the world we live in, to process events and to problem solve.

Cheers to BOOKS!
