Kid Made Christmas Ornaments

The best part of the Christmas tree is the kid made Christmas ornaments and gifts.  Every year when the kids would come home from that last day of school before winter vacation they would bring an ornament or gift they made in class.  They are my favorites on the tree and under it too.

Six Christmas Crafts for Kids

How fun would it be if you had your kids turn their old clothes into upcycled stockings?  These are super because there is no sewing involved.

Kids can make their own gift wrap by painting on bags or kraft paper.  The best art tool I know for this would be ooly’s Chunkies paint sticks!

Kids love to paint on canvas.  This post has the step by step directions to paint an adorable gnome.

Making snow globes is a super fun way to personalize a gift.  Put inside a glass jar or container items that are special to your family or friends.

Giant reindeer tags are fun to create.  They can be used as ornaments, tied on gifts or used as place cards!

Making ornaments with paint chips is an easy way to create darling creations.

love this one because it is allows kids to be a bit creative in how they decorate the wood slice.  I love ALL of the ornaments kids make but I especially love the ones that they create from their hearts.

Kid Made Christmas Ornaments with Ooly Oil Pastels

You will need the following supplies to make these kid made Christmas ornaments.

  • ooly Oil Pastels
  • Wood Slices
  • Wire
  • Hot Glue
  • Yarn
  • Decoupage and Paint Brush (Optional)

Decorate wood slices with oil pastel sticks.  This is a great time to allow creativity to take over.  The holidays look a lot of different ways for kids so what they consider joyful and happy might be different.

Hot glue wire loop to back of slice and sign with an oil pastel.  Some wood slices come with holes in the center of the tops.  If you are using this kind, loop yarn or wire through the hole instead of using the wire.

Tie yarn to the wire to decorate.  Use to embellish a gift or hang on a tree.  Ribbon or twine work great as options for this too.  Get as fancy as you like.

An optional addition to preserve the artwork is to add a later of decoupage over the entire surface of the wood slice.  Kids can be so creative and make the best things.  Another craft project for Christmas with kids that uses ooly supplies is the gnome advent calendar.  It is darling and so much fun to make.

Merry Holidays!
