Kindness Advent Calendar

Spread kindness throughout the holiday season with this amazing advent calendar.

We have learned over time that small, as well as gigantic acts of kindness make a difference in the lives of all involved. They can make someone feel valued, begin a new friendship and even break a pattern of alone-ness. This awesome calendar from MindWare – The Be Kind Advent Calendar – is a great way to get the whole family involved.

Be Kind Advent Calendar

What better way to count down the days to Christmas than with little acts of kindness! This calendar can be used at home with an individual child or the whole family. It can also be used in the classroom! The calendar kit provides you with a token every day with a prompt for something kind to do. The overall calendar is designed to prompt creativity, empathy and discussion, it is a great way to put meaning into the holiday season. I love it because it adds so much meaning to the season.

Types of Kindness

There are lots of different ways to do random acts of kindness. Practicing them using a tool like this advent calendar helps reinforce the simplicity of being kind for children. To be honest, I know a lot of grown up who could use a refresher too! Here is a lost of some different way to spread kindness.

  • Sharing compliments
  • Giving little fun gifts
  • Using kind words
  • Being grateful
  • Doing an act of service for someone else
  • Being respectful
  • Being aware of good things that others do
  • Giving your time to someone else
  • Hugs
  • Writing notes and sending them
  • Leaving goodies out for the delivery drivers
  • Smiling at people

How to Use the Be Kind Advent Calendar

The Be Kind Advent Calendar can be used lots of different ways. These are the two that make the most sense to me.

First Way

Pull the tokens out of the bag, one at a time and put them on the calendar. Do the fun kindness prompts in the order that has been preselected. This six year old spent about 10 minutes filling the calendar. She actually chose to dump the tokens our first because she was concerned about the colors and pattern. It was totally adorable.

Second Way

Pour the tokens in a glass bowl and select a new one each day to add to the calendar for the following one. This way you have a little more control over how you use your time and resources. This might work better with a larger family or a classroom.

Another Great Advent Calendar

I love this advent calendar from MindWare too. It had ornaments to paint for the twelve days of Christmas. These ornaments could be given away as gifts, tied on as tags or used to decorate the tree.

Sharing is Caring! Too busy to make this right away?! Pin it for later!  Pin this project to your favorite craft board on Pinterest and it’ll be waiting for you when you’re ready.
