Teaching kiddos to be kind is not only fun but supports raising kids who care. Kindness critters are a great way to work together with your kiddos to create a darling tool to encourage kindness in everyday life. These kindness critters were designed with kids in mind. Whether you make the kindness critters alone or have your kids help, they are sure to love them. Because there are a couple of materials for stuffing the kindness critters, they can be light and airy or heavy like a beanbag. This post is sponsored by Fairfield World but the ideas are my own.
To make a kindness critter, you will need the following supplies and materials:
- Fairfield World Poly-Fil
- Fairfield World Poly-Pellets
- Felt
- Needle and Embriodery Floss
- Scissors
- FREE Printable Pattern
- Sewing Machine
- Buttons for Eyes or Can Be Stitched
- Straight Pins
I created a hedgehog pattern for you to use. The first step is to download the pattern and cut out the pieces.
This projects works best with Kunin Premium felt because it is thick and sturdy. Using your patterns pieces, cut out all of the parts to your kindness critters.
Place your felt pieces the way you want them to be when they are stitched on.
Sew the little pieces that go on the front side of your critter first using embroidery floss and a sharp needle. The ears only need to be stitched on the bottom so they stick out a tad.
Sew the pocket on the two sides only at the bottom of the front. Pin the front to the back.
Use a sewing machine and sew around the body but NOT across the bottom. Leave it open.
Stuff the top half of your hedgehog kindness critter with Poly-Fil 100% Fiber Fill.
Fill the rest with Poly-Pellets. I love the easy pour container of them best because it makes it so simple. Leave room to flatten and pin the bottom closed for sewing.
Sew across the bottom of your hedgehog kindness critter to seal in the stuffings. The Poly-Pellets on the bottom half will give him weight to sit on his own.

Put one in your kindness critter’s pocket and leave it on the counter for your kiddos to find. I think it is fun to leave him out with the making for hot cocoa.
