Being an artist is such a fun way to live life, especially in the context of being friends with other artists. It always amazes me just how incredibly talented my friends really are. Not only do they seem to be able to create art on surfaces but they illustrate books, write books, create stories and make the world a happier place. My friend Priscilla Burris has a NEW book out that she illustrated (written by Rebecca Van Slyke) and it titled Mom School. It is awesome and beautiful. I know this because I am a mom. I also know this because I rant to Barnes and Nobel as soon as I found out it was there and bought all of the copies!
The book is the story of what a child thinks about her mom going to school to learn to be a mom. It is adorable and funny and simply charming. My favorite few things that this child imagines we moms learn at Mom School are how to not lose kids and how to do more than one thing at a time.
My favorite character that Priscilla has created is Irene!
I am so lucky to have a few pieces of art that Priscilla doodled up just for me.
She knows that I LOVE polka dots!
For the record, I doodled her too and we shared our doodles on Instagram on the same day. We artists find ways to connect and share and have tons of fun.
Last year I even took her doodle that she made me and tried to make me look like it. You can find out about that here.
This book is PERFECT for Mother’s Day! It is a great story for all ages and for all MOMS you love and know.
