Quilted Travel Stitching Accessory Book
I am so excited to share this quilted travel stitching accessory book project with you for two reason. First, it uses some of my favorite products. Second (and super awesome), I love to stitch on the go and I can’t wait to use it when I travel.
I created this project with fabric designed by Anne Kennan Higgins and super soft, all natural batting from Fairfield World. Let’s make it!
What do you need to make this book?
- Fabric (Anne Kennan Higgins for Fat Quarter Shop)
- Toasty Cotton Batting from Fairfield World
- Sewing Machine
- Scissors/Pinking Shears
- Felt
How do you make it?
Start by cutting small squares of fabric and quilting them together. They can be any size as long as the completed piece is a little larger than 5×7 inches. This is a great easy quilting project for non-quilters! Make two of these.
Cut out two 5×7 panel pieces (like the NYC and San Francisco girl). If you are using different fabric, any 5 x 7 piece wll do.
Place a 4 1/2 x 6 1/2) piece of Toasty Cotton batting in between each panel and a completed quilted segment.
Pin the pieces together and stitch around the entire outside of each sandwich. Remove the pins. If creating a pocket, make a sandwich just like these and then sew it to one of the larger pieces. If adding a custom tag, sew it on now.
Place a piece of felt the same size as your front and back in the middle and sew up the left edge. Use pinking shears to trim around the edges. Isn’t it just the cutest thing EVER? The pocket is perfect for scissors.
The inside has a place to keep pins and needles (through the felt) Embroidery floss lays flat in the back between the felt and the back cover.
With extra pieces, create a travel bookmark to match!
If you are a want to be quilter, here is another easy peasy beginner project for you! These little projects were designed with Valentines in mind but with a different fabric could be used for all the things!
Comment and let me know if you are quilter or a want to be quilter and what you think about this Quilted Travel Stitching Accessory Book
