Last night we went to see The BFG and it was amazing. As I wrote on my Facebook wall, “The BFG was pure magic, pure love, pure friendship and pure perfection. The special effects are unimaginable. The acting is superb. My belief in humanity has been restored.” Disney does such an amazing job at bringing literature to life. I think this is their best work to date. I am so inspired to continue the magic into today that I woke up with a desire to create a crafty extension and a recipe for Frobscottle, the green drink that the giants love. And so I did.
I doodled up a printable first. It has a jar for capturing dreams and extra labels for use on real jars. You can use terms from the book like ‘Golden Phizzward’ or ‘Terrible Trogglehumber’ or make up your own. The larger card with the lines is for writing a dream. I created my own Dream Jar collection. I got MOST of my jars at World Market (of course).
This is how it translates.
These are the items I put in each jar. They are symbolic to me. The key unlocks friendships. The heart is love. The pink sour ball is my fave candy and represents wishes. The token that says wander represents my need for aimless adventure. My dream is full of a glitter/water mix to represent sparkle and fluidity.
And now on to the Frobscottle. In the book, when Sophie asks for water she is given Frobscottle. It is a green fizzy drink where the bubbles go down, not up. Therefore burps are not the result, rather whizzpops (aka farts). She believes it to taste like vanilla with a faint hint of raspberry. I dashed out to World Market to gather some ingredients and create this awesome recipe. It is seriously delicious and would be super fun for a BFG party or learning experience in the classroom.

Of course, if you follow my blog, you know how much I love word search puzzles. Here is one for The BFG. You can download it FREE here.
If you haven’t read the book, read it! If you haven’t been to the movie, go. Go now. It is worth it, I pinkie swear.
Cheers,
Laura
Awesome! We are seeing this movie next week!
