Back to School Classroom Banner

I love this season.  Back to school is just so exciting and creates such fun opportunities for new things and new ideas.  This Back to School classroom banner could be customized so many different ways.  It is so simple to create with Kunin’s Premium eco-fi Plus colors.  This one was made in the colors of the rainbow but banners could be made in class colors or school colors too.  I made this one for. Mrs. Culp.  I don’t even know her in person but online, she is a super energetic and loving teachers.  So, I am going to send it to her to kick start her new year.  This post is sponsored by Kunin but the ideas and opinions are my own.  I LOVE working with felt for projects like this because it comes is the best colors ever and it cuts like paper.  It doesn’t fray which makes it so simple to use in a sewing project.

Okay, first I cut out the flags for the banner using a die from Sizzix/Ellison .

I used the Superstar machine because it is my fave!

Then I cut out the letters to spell the teacher’s name.  I used dies from Sizzix/Ellison for this part too.

I sewed the letters onto the flags, adding a period to the S.

To turn the seven pieces into a banner, I folded the tops over a piece of thick twine and pinned them.  Then I sewed the twine into the flags so that they can slide for placement.  This works a lot better than sewing them directly to a piece of ribbon or rope because the banner hangs much nicer.

Ta da!

Back to school is a time for teachers to reinvent themselves and get their classrooms brightened up.  I feel confident that this banner will do the trick.

I should also tell you that I am on the Kunin Group Dream Team.  Twice a month I have posts on the Kunin blog sharing great projects and ideas.  My last post was the tutorial for Girl Scout meeting bags.  You can check it out here.  These would work in a classroom too!

Cheer,

Laura
