Crafts in a SNAP – DIY Fabric Gift Bag

One thing that I love bunches is crafts that happen in a SNAP, like in 15 MINUTES or less!  This adorable fabric bag is easy peasy to stitch up on your sewing machine and works great as a gift bag or a super fun little storage bag.

To create it, you will need the following few items…

Supplies

  • Dish towel to recycle (or cotton fabric measuring about 24 x 10 inches)
  • Fabric scraps cut into squares with pinking shears (one a little bigger than the other) – I used fabric that I designed myself and is on Spoonflower to buy!
  • Fabric strip (two inches wide by 16 inches long)
  • Sewing machine, threaded…
  • Scissors
  • Buttons for embellishing (Laura Kelly for Buttons Galore of course) and Aleene’s Fabric Fusion to adhere them (if wanted)

Here’s what to do…

  1. Cut or tear your dish towel (or cotton fabric) into the size you want your bag to be when you fold it in half – I used a flour sack towel from World Market.  I actually LOVE these for creating sewing projects of all kinds!
  2. Sew your squares to the dish towel on the side you want to be the front.
  3. Fold the towel in half and sew it around the two sizes that will make it into a bag (with your fabric squares on the INSIDE)
  4. Flip your bag and trim your threads.
  5. Fill it up and tie it closed with your fabric strip!

Puppy Gift Bag Final

This one is for my friend Kelly from Live Laugh Rowe blog.  I am giving it to her at SNAP because she has been super supportive of me on my blogging journey as I build my brand and share my creativity.  I happen to know that she loves her puppies bunches so wanted her to be the first to get something created with this fabric.

Do you just love the custom gift tag.  I created it with one of the stamps that I designed for Expressionery.  It makes crafting up customized notes and tags so easy peasy and fun and awesome.
