These DIY squishies for the Thanksgiving kids’ table are darling and supportive in creating a quieter and calmer dining experience. The special foam designed by Fairfield World works great for this project and can be found at local craft stores. Squishies are all the rage with kiddos right now in a pretty big age range so these are fabulous for most all ages. The big bonus is that while they add a dimension of activity to the table, they are also super decorative and fun. This post is sponsored by Fairfield World but the ideas and opinions are my own.
To create these DIY squishies for the Thanksgiving kids’ table, you will need the following materials and supplies:
- Squishy Foam from Fairfield World
- Fabric Die
- Die Cut Machine and Laura Kelly Pumpkin/Leaf Dies
- Brown Acrylic Paint
- Green/Brown Twine or Ribbon
The first step is to cut out your shapes using a die cut machine and my Laura Kelly pumpkin and/or Laura Kelly leaf die. If you do not have these, you can hand cut the foam too. If you are hand cutting, I suggest first cutting the block of foam in half to make the thickness more manageable.
Next, die them in fabric die to your desired colors. Rinse them and squeeze out the water then let them dry completely. This can take up to 24 hours.
Paint the pumpkin stems dark brown.
When the paint is dry, add bows to the stems of the pumpkins and the leaves.
Ta Da!
They are great on the table for Thanksgiving. They are also great paired up with this darling Thanksgiving word search puzzle for a party or a treat. You can download it from this blog post!
Cheers to All Things Squishy!
