It is always awesome to find ways to use those short pieces of beautiful ribbon and trim leftover from other sewing and DIY projects. This tutorial is the best because it can be done with torn scraps of fabric, cord and yarn too. The more pieces of these things that get added, the thicker and more fun the project will be!

Materials and Supplies Needed

Directions for DIY Tassel Keychain

Start by lining the ribbons and trims up. Cut them all to be the same length – approximately 18 inches.

Wrap a 10 inch piece of jewelry wire around the center of all of the pieces and twist it.

Feed both ends of the wire through the tassel cap. Pull the tassel cap down tightly over the clump of ribbon.

Twist the wire until it is thick enough that it holds the cap in place.

Add a bead through both pieces of wire and a keyring through just one then twist the wire around the ring and back into the bead to secure. If necessary, cut off any extra wire.

Add the swivel clasp by feeding it through the keyring like a key to complete the DIY Tassel Keyring project. This is the perfect keyring to use for our mailbox key and pool fob. It is bright and cheerful so looks great hanging up for all to use.
