Whip up some delicious peppermint eggnog dip for your next holiday celebration. It will not dissapoint.
This recipe is so yummy and simple to make. It is perfect for dipping crackers, cookies, pretzels and even salty potato chips. Eggnog is a must in our family every holiday season and this gives it yet another fabulous way to become part of our celebrations. We love dips and snacks for game nights, decorating parties and movie time too.
Ingredients and Supplies:
- 1 8 oz. Package Cream Cheese
- 1 Cup EggNog
- ½ tsp. Almond Extract
- 1 Tbsp. Cinnamon Sugar
- 1/4 C Crushed Peppermint Candy
- Mixing Bowl
- Spoon/Spatula
- MIXER ( or whisk)
Preparation Instructions
Start by gathering all ingredients. Note that because of the chill time, this recipe should be made at least an hour prior to serving time.
Step One:
Soften cream cheese. I prefer to leave my cream cheese out of the fridge for a few hours to soften but it can also be done in the microwave. If choosing the microwave, for the 8-ounce block of cream cheese, unwrap completely and place the naked black on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave it on high for 15 seconds.
Step Two
Add 1 Cup of eggnog and mix until smooth. Your eggnog dip consistency will be determined by how smooth you mix, This can be done with a handheld mixer or a whisk. Of course if you have a Kitchenaid mixer, use it by all means. I did.
Step Three
Mix in almond extract and cinnamon sugar completely then pour into bowl or dish of choice for serving.
Mix in crushed peppermint candy, keeping a little aside to sprinkle on top.
Step Five
Top with crushed peppermint candy. This can be either crushed candy canes OR the peppermint chocolate candy crunch mix.
Chill in refrigerator for at least an hour. If you plan to serve this many hours from preparing, it is okay to add the peppermint crunch at serving time too.
How to Serve Peppermint Egg Nog Dip
Serve minted Dip with cookies, crackers, pretzels or chips. The mixture of sweet with salty is definitely one of my favorites so I love this with pretzels. However most kids seem to love it with cookies and basic sugar cookies are perfect.
If you want to give this as a gift, jar it and give with a sleeve of cookies or crackers. Just be sure to let the recipient know that it needs to be refrigerated until served.
