Create darling oversized decorations in a few simple, mess free steps.
The best thing about this project is that for a very small amount of money, you can make BIG amazing decorations for your home, porch, classroom or work place. The cardboard gingerbread man is adorable but this same process could be used to make oversized decor for every holiday or themed celebration. The Kwik Stix are the best because they PAINT on the cardboard and it dries in seconds.
ON THE NEWS
It was such a blast to take this project and share it on KDVR FOX News Denver. Check out the segment and let me know what you think!
Materials and Supplies Needed
- Kwik Stix Paint Sticks
- Cardboard Box
- Marker
- Large Bowl or Pan
- Scissors or Knife
Directions
Start by separating a large, clean side of the box!
Step One
Trace the bowl or pan at the top to create the head for your gingerbread man.
Next draw the rest of the body. If it takes a couple of tries, NO WORRIES. This is going to be the back of your project so it’s totally okay to have multiple marks.
Use scissors or a knife to cut the design out and separate it from the rest of the box. KEEP the spare cardboard though because it can be used for extra pieces and other projects.
Step Two
The main paint stick that is getting used in this project is the WHITE! It is the one to act as the icing on the cardboard gingerbread man. Use it to draw the doors, windows and added details. The paint stick twists from the bottom to add more paint to the top when it gets low.
Draw the face first. This gives your guy a little personality to relate to as you create the rest of the details.
Add white for icing and other colors for details like buttons, bows and scarves. Here is the completed man on the morning news in Denver!
