Make Your Own Felt Flower Message Board

Handmade creations are always the best way to make fabulous DIY decorations, gifts and home decor.  This ‘Make your Own Felt Message Board’ is fantastic because with just a few simple items, a favorite pair of jeans, worn out tote bag or fabric scraps can be turned into something new and useful.  National Craft Month is such a wonderful time to get out those projects that have been waiting and get them done.  This message board is made with Beacon’s Fabri-Tac, my all-time favorite glue for fabric, as well as many other materials.  This post is sponsored by Beacon but the ideas and opinions are my own.  Be sure to read to the end and ENTER TO WIN an awesome stash of glues AND some felt flowers too.

Directions to Make Felt Flower Message Board

Start by creating the board.  To do this, cut a cardboard box into two pieces that fit inside of two pieces of fabric.  It could be any size.  Use the Fabri-Tac to glue the two pieces of cardboard together around the edges and in the center.

Place the card board in the center of the fabric.  For this project, I used an already framed piece of canvas but any fabric would work.  The stronger fabrics will create sturdier message boards.  Glue the cardboard in the center and adhere it to the fabric.

Use Fabri-tac to glue in the center of the cardboard and around the edges of the fabric and attach another piece on top of the cardboard and base to create the final message board.

Add felt flowers to the board to decorate it and make it a perfect touch to add in any room.  It would be perfect in a dorm room, a classroom or even a small work space like a cubicle.

If you don’t already have felt flowers, here is an easy way to make them.

Fabric Flowers With Fabritac

  1. Cut out 6 two inch circles from felt.
  2. Cut the circles in half.
  3. Glue the circles together, overlapping a little with each one as you go, using Fabri-Tac.
  4. Wrap the long strand you have glued together, gluing at the bottom as you go to keep tight.
  5. Let dry and glue to surface or add a stem.
