Super Easy How to Make a Shaker Card

Create and make a darling shaker card in a few easy steps.

This frog is my favorite sticker in my Laura Kelly Designs Sticker Collection and I wanted to turn it into a card for someone special. I decided to make a shaker card for the FIRST time using some incredibly awesome supplies from Sizzix. I also used the Sizzix Big Shot Switch in this project to create a super creative goody for the inside of the card. I can’t wait to tell you more about it because I am totally crushing on this new machine in my studio.

Materials and Supplies For Shaker Card with Vinyl Sticker

You can use scrap pieces of decorative paper from your stash or go pick out new ones. One of the greatest things about making cards and tags is the opportunity to use those extra pieces from larger projects.

Directions for Super Easy Shaker Card

I love this version of a shaker card for BEGINNERS trying this craft out. I know after making this card that I want to make more shaker cards with extra details and more steps. However, I like to do things simple when I am trying them for the first time to build confidence and love what I create.

Step One

Use adhesive (either a tape runner or paper glue) to adhere the square piece of decorative paper to the center of the square card.

Step Two

Place a vinyl sticker on the middle of the front square. Be sure it is sized properly for the shaker panel that is being used on this card.

Step Three

Peel the adhesive cover off of the base of the shaker panel and place it right on top of the center of the vinyl sticker.

Step Four

Add a few pinches of sequins and beads in coordinating colors into the center of the shaker panel. Be careful not to place too many so as not to cover the sticker underneath once completed.

They are so fun to mix and match with colors and sizes and shapes.

Step Five

The next step requires a tad bit of detail. Take the cover for the shaker panel and carefully remove the film from BOTH sides. Then, remove the red adhesive cover from the top of the shaker panel and place the cover smack in the center. It should line up perfectly.

Step Six

The last step is to open up the card and add a message and any other details. I used the Sizzix Big Shot Switch to cut out a sponge paper flower. It is so fun because when it is put in water, it becomes a sponge!

This flower is from the Calendar Collection of dies that I designed for Sizzix. I know that a lot of my regular readers have these dies.

While it has been discontinued, there are LOTS of new flower dies to choose from on the Sizzix website.
