Directions to Make Magnetic Photo Frames with Clay
There are lots of ways to use the tools when making these fun frames. With younger children, it might be a good idea to only offer one or two tools at a time. With older kids, put them all out.
Step One
Work on a silicone mat that can easily transfer to a baking sheet when it is time. Start by rolling two bars from a 2 oz package of Bake Shop until flat (the thinner it is, the better it will hang with a magnet based on weight). Use the tool with a knife like end to cut a rectangle.

Step Two
Using the Bake Shop colors of choice, create a design around the rectangle frame. During this process, leave the base rectangle piece in place to keep it’s shape and form.
There are so many ways to use the modeling tools. Here are some of the fun things that can be done with them and small pieces of colored bake shop.

Place all of the pieces by gently pushing them into the base.

Step Three
Bake for 15 minutes in a preheated 275 degree oven. Once completely cooled, add a layer of glaze if desired to give the frame a shine.

Step Four
Add the magnet to the back. These magnets peel and stick and work GREAT!

The frame is now ready to stick to metal surface like this fun cookie sheet. Cookie sheets are great in the classroom for magnet activities, displaying work and keeping things organized.

Making the Frame into an Ornament
Follow the same steps BUT be sure to use the tool with the pointed end to make a hole before baking. Once completed, add a ribbon for a hanger.

Thanks for sharing this blog. It helps me a lot on how diy kid craft magnetic frames make. I’m glad I visited one of an art class at Brush Crazy, a tiny universe of painting, crafting, and creating the projects you dare to dream! And I enjoyed my time with painting.
