This Thanksgiving decor for the kid table is so fun to make and really simple too. It is a project than kids can do to create their own holiday dining experience or one that can be done for them as well. Working with Oly*Fun is great because it cuts like paper but acts like fabric. It is so great because it comes in so many awesome colors, bright and neutral. Where I usually tend to use all bright colors, for this I leaned more towards the neutral colors for autumn. This post is sponsored by Fairfield World as part of my Thanksgiving 2017 series but the ideas and opinions are all my own.
To create this you will need the following materials and supplies”
- Oly*Fun by Fairfield World
- Scissors
- Die Cut Shapes (Ellison Leaf Used)
- Sewing Machine or Glue
Placemats are fun to make and create a base for a place setting. Cut a piece of Oly*Fun to measure 8 x 11 inches to get started. Then cut fringe around the outside. It is awesome because it will not fray. Add a die cut (either with hot glue or by sewing) to the piece.
This can be your place mat or you can make it larger but stitching this entire piece to a large one measuring 9 x 12 inches.
To create napkin rings bows, cut strips of Oly*Fun in the colors of your choice measuring approximately 1/2 inch wide by 12 inches long. Use two strips to tie the silverware together. Double knot before tying into a bow. The Oly*Fun in great because it holds a really great shape regardless of being tossed around or piled in a basket.
To add color, place a napkin between the tied silverware and the dinner plate.
When you put it all together, it creates a darling and totally kid-friendly place setting.
Here are four free fun activities for the table too!
- Thanksgiving Tic Tac Toe
- Thanksgiving Turkey Poem
- Thanksgiving Gratitude List
- Thanksgiving Word Search Puzzle
You can buy Oly*Fil at your local craft store. It comes in sheets or by the yard measurements. Be sure to hop around my blog to find out lots of fun ways you can use it to make things.
I can’t wait to share the next Thanksgiving project with you.
Cheers,
Laura
