Today is March 20th and the day to celebrate The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.  It has been may years since this book was published on March 20th, 1969 and has brought joy and learning to many.  Eric Carle’s use of bright colors and collage makes his artwork and illustration unique.  He is one of my favorites.

To get started, I suggest you have the book.  You can grab it here.

To make this fun project, you will need a few things.

  • Watercolor Paper
  • Scissors
  • Watercolor paints and brush
  • Sculpey Bake Shop Clay

Cut a leaf out of your watercolor paper.

Paint your leaf.

Create your caterpillar out of clay and bake following the instructions in the packaging.  Ta Da!

Here is a FREE word search for your kiddos to do too.

Cheers to Literature and to Art,

Laura
