DIY Hermione Costume for American Girl Doll

What’s more fun that working on fun puzzles and games than doing it with your favorite doll.  Grace makes a great Hermione Grainger.

Materials and supplies Needed

  • FELT – Black, Yellow, Dark Red
  • Scissors/Pinking Shears
  • Sewing Machine (Could Use Fabric Glue)

Directions

Cut a long think piece of yellow felt to make a scarf. It can be as long or as wide as you would like but we think 1 1/2 inches wide by 18 inches long is a great size.

Cut stripes from red felt using pinking shears. Either sew them to the yellow scarf or use fabric glue to attach them. If you use glue, allow overnight for drying time.

To make the cloak, use a piece of felt (12 x 7 inches). It is okay if the sizing is not totally perfect. This entire costume was designed and made by an eight year old. The cloak requires sewing for the arms.  Sew two tubes (4 inches by 6 inches) then stick them through cut holes of a cloak and glue them in place. If you use fabric glue, you will need clips to hold them in place until dry. We recommend sewing or stitching.

It is fun to add a little bag too.  Hermione’s bag has EVERYTHING in it – and we mean everything!
