I can speak for my own journey on how important the lessons from this have been in my life.  I was an active Girl Scout all through my school years and learned more about life, money and goals from cookie sales than anything ever in a classroom.   By reaching my selling goals I was able to earn my way to do things like go to camp and attend events that otherwise I might not have been able to experience. I learned to dream big and set the bar high.

Ryp is going to be our “Cookie Dad” again this year.  He is great at it.  These are the super creative and bright informative materials he brought home from training.  YES, it requires volunteer time and training to work with these amazing girls.

I am most excited about the NEW cookie!

I know you want to see it close up.

When a Girl Scout asks you to but cookies from HER, she is asking you to support HER goals and HER dreams.  With her family support and the support of her leaders, that girl is taking the risk to reach for something new.  Your response is a piece of what will shape her future.

Here are some supportive choices when you are asked to buy cookies, whether at your front door or in front of a store:

  1.  Smile and buy a box (or ten).
  2. Buy a box to be donated to our military troops.
  3. Buy a box to give to a friend or a teacher.
  4. Don’t but cookies but make a donation to the Girl Scout for her troop or service project.
  5. Tell the Girl Scout you are proud of her for reaching for her dreams.

Here are some NON supportive choices when asked to buy Girl Scout cookies:

  1. Share an excuse of why you can’t eat cookies.  The Girl Scout doesn’t need to know your issues.
  2. Tell the Girl Scout how the cookies are too expensive.  The Girl Scout has nothing to do with the pricing.
  3. Tell the Girl Scout you already bought from someone else.  This can make the Girl Scout feel inadequate.
  4. Make rude remarks of any manner.
  5. Complain about the ingredients.  Share this with the leaders or the council.

If you are a Girl Scout leader or a Girl Scout mom and want a free cookies printable for coloring, here you go.  I doodled an updated one with this year’s new cookie, the Girl Scout S’mores!

Cookie season starts SOON so be ready.  Be ready to be a positive influence on these girls.  YOU can make a difference.

Cheers,

Laura

  1. Hi Laura – I’ve just discovered your blog, and love it! As a new GS troop leader this year (and in Colorado), I’m sure I’ll be back often.

  2. Wow! That is the cutest! Except we have ABC bakers so we don’t have the sandwich smores. I’m downloading it for my girls anyway, they’ll love it!

  3. Hello! I love your printable! Is there any way you could update the Savannah Smiles with Lemon Ups for the 2021 selling season?
    Thank you for considering!
