Create darling elf decor with a dollar store piece and Glitter-It!
It is so easy and super fun to turn glass vessels from the Dollar Spot into beautiful holiday decor. I tend to have a POP of pink in all that I do so creatiing a festive elf decor piece to add this year makes me so happy.
Materials and Supplies Needed
- Glitter-It! from Beacon
- Glass Hat Decor (Target Dollar Spot)
- Pink Chunky Mixed Glitter
- Kunin Classic Felt (Skin Tone, Pink)
- Large Bell
- Skin Tone and Black Acrylic Paint
- Paintbrush
Directions for Using Glitter-It!
Using Glitter-It is as easy as 1-2-3. I have found that it works the very best when being applied to clean, dry glass with chunky glitter!
- Unscrew cap of Glitter-It! and pour a small amount into vessel (gumball machine). Swirl around to coat the entire inner surface. Add more if needed. Drain Glitter-It! from vessel before adding glitter. Be sure that the entire inner surface is well coated with Glitter-It! before adding glitter.
- Immediately add about glitter. Rotate and shake vessel around until the inside of the vessel is completely covered with glitter. If necessary, add additional Glitter-It! and glitter until all areas are covered.
- Turn vessel upside down and shake away any excess glitter. Let dry!
Let’s go through the directions in more detail!
Step One
Take the hat decor apart to isolate the glass globe. Pour Glitter-It! into the globe and swirl it around to cover the interior surface. Pour pink chunky glitter in and swirl around to coat the inside then pour extra out. I like to work on parchment paper to create for easy clean-up!
Step Two
Paint a face on the bottom piece of the decor using acrylic paint.
Once the paint is dry, add two dots for black eyes with paint.
Step Three
Place the sparkly and glittery glass piece on top of the white. If desired, add some glue to secure in place. This piece has a tight fit but I added a little glue just to be safe.
Step Four
Add details to your decor. Cut ears from felt and glue them to the sides of the face. Add white trim around the base of the glitter hat and felt triangles around the base to create a collar.
Glue a bell to the top to add a special touch.
It is so so so so cute, right?
