Create darling PERSONALIZED hand stamped family art with clear stamps and watercolor paints!
I really LOVE my new collection of craft products from therm-o-web and am excited to share a fun water color painting technique with clear stamps! To create this darling family art ,I used the Me and My Peeps Set! This would be a great way to make stamped family art holiday gifts for friends. Stamps are a great way for kids to create too!
Materials and Supplies Needed
- Water Color Paper
- Acrylic Stamps (Me and My Peeps Set by Me for therm-o-web)
- Acrylic Stamp Blocks
- Water Color Paints – ooly watercolor paint pods are my fave for the price
- ARCHIVAL Black Stamp Pad (IMPORTANT so the ink doesn’t run when wet)
- Paint Brushes
- Water
- Paper Towels
- Black Permanent Marker (Fine Tip)
- Frame (Found at the Dollar Tree)
Directions
Before beginning the project, make sure that the watercolor paper is sized to fit the frame being used. It would be so sad if once completed, it didn’t fit.
Step One
Start by choosing the stamps you want to use for your stamped family art. Peel them off of the acetate packaging and stick them on acrylic blocks. (When you are done with them, store them back on the original packaging.) For this design, I used multiple stamps on one block. This would be a great way to create note cards or stationery for writing lots of letters.
To apply the ink to the stamp, press the pad onto the stamp until it is completely covered. If stamping is new for you, practice on a piece of scrap paper before applying ink to the water color paper. The permanent ink feels a tiny bit different from regular ink so practicing first is a great idea.
It is okay to use multiple stamped images on one masterpiece.
Step Two
Once the ink is dry (which happens pretty quickly), add watercolor dots over the stamped images. This could be done in any pallet of colors! The watercolor paints are like magic over the permanent ink. For brighter colors, add more coats to the design.
Step Three
Put the designed family into a frame to make a perfect gift. This one would be perfect for a housewarming gift!
Larger Family Clear Stamp Art
Here is another super fun one with a whole family! This is a 5×7 but could easily be larger with added stamped designs for a border.
First Step – Stamp!
Second Step – Watercolor!
More Ways to Use Clear Stamps to Make Gifts
Here are few more ways to use clear stamp designs to create daring gifts. Both of these are great for beginning crafters and even kiddos too!
Create a puzzle of a family or a bunch of friends with the Me and My Peeps stamps. If you don’t have a puzzle die, just use scissors and cut it into a few fun pieces to mail.
Use the Kindness on Purpose stamps to create adorable jars then fill them with candy or sprinkles! This project is super fun because it used the stamps on tissue paper.
The stamps are great for making labels for clothing too! Check these out and get ready to label everything you own!
