DIY Paper and Clay Zipper Pulls

Create darling zipper pull accessories with paper and Liquid Sculpey!

Materials and Supplies Needed

Instructions

Start by deciding what image or design you want to create. If you need to sketch it first with pencil, that is totally okay. I just went for it with the permanent markers.

Step One

Create a design (to scale) for the zipper pull you want to make. Use permanent markers on a thick watercolor paper for the best results. This an be as simple or elaborate as you would like.

Step Two

Cut the design out. Be sure not to have any really thin lengthy pieces (ie: antennae for butterfly) as they will not withhold much

Step Three

Place the designs that have been cut out onto your silicone mat ON a baking sheet. Add a layer of CLEAR Liquid Sculpey to the entire surface of the design.

To spread it evenly, use an old paintbrush that can be thrown away a clay tool. The clay will look like glue and it might seem that the colored design will be covered in white. Rest assured, it will bake and become CLEAR!

Bake for 6 minutes then remove and let cool.

Step Four

Flip the cooled pieces over. Use a colored Liquid Sculpey and do the same process on the back as you did on the front all the way through to the baking and cooling.

Once they are out of the oven the second time, they well be thick and sturdy.

Step Five

Punch a hole in the pieces and use a binder ring to attach the charm to a zipper, creating a darling pull.

Note that these could also be used as keyrings or jewelry charms.
