Easy DIY Valentine Garland for Beginner Crafters

Decorating for the holidays is one of my favorite hobbies. Actually decorating for the seasons, for events and just for fun is really my favorite. I just LOVE to decorate. This project is fabulous for first time makers because it is simple enough yet creates a beautiful completed decoration for your home, classroom or office. Let’s get started and make an easy DIY Valentine garland with just a few supplies and materials.

Materials and Supplies Needed

There are tons of things that could be added to these wooded hearts once painted so think big. You might want to add gems, buttons or bobbles galore.

Steps for this Easy DIY Valentine Garland for Beginner Crafters

Before beginning, consider the dry time of your paint. This project needs to be completed in two different sessions because the paint needs to be cured before the rest of the project can be done.

Step One

Paint the hearts. Using ColorShot is my favorite because it is quick and easy. The colors are magnificent and one coat is all that is needed. I am going to tell you more about ColorShot in a bit so keep reading. It is awesome information.

THREE SPRAY PAINT TIPS:

  1. Paint in Good Weather. Best case scenario, temperatures should be between 50°F and 90°F, and relative humidity is below 85%. Avoid painting in direct sunlight and hot, humid weather.
  2. Test Spray Paint and Technique Before Starting To get the best application, test the paint on a like surface to your project or maybe the back to make sure it is going to get the desired look.
  3. Spray Motion Makes a Difference Always begin and finish spraying off the object, using an even side-to-side motion with each pass overlapping your spray pattern by about one-third. Use thin, multiple coats instead of one thick coat.

Step Two

Once the paint is totally dry, add the hemp cord to give the hearts some texture and dimension. The best way to do this if you are wrapping the cord is to apply hot glue to the BACK of the heart, attach the cord then wrap.

Apply more hot glue to secure the cord in place if necessary.

Step Three

String a long piece of hemp cord through the hearts to turn them into the Easy DIY Valentine Garland for Beginner Crafters!

  1. A well decorated room creates a space for healthy living including the atmosphere as well as the functionality.
  2. Decorated spaces can promote well being, creativity, better rest, etc.
  3. It is fun and festive!
  4. Home decor can change with the seasons, the holidays, and the times. It is a way to update style and express yourself.
