Create darling springtime carrot decor with this garland tutorial.

Springtime should be filled with all things carrots including this super easy to make and incredibly darling carrot garland decoration.  The colors of orange and green are such a naturally perfect combination .This garland is made with oly*fun and Poly-fil, two products that I love from Fairfield World.  This post is sponsored by Fairfield World but the ideas and opinions are my own.

While I might not totally love eating carrots, I do love decorating wit them because of the colors and their symbolism.  They make me think growth.  I mean a carrot grows in two directions at the same time.  The vegetable grows in the dirt while the tops reach for the sky.  DIY Easter decor is always fun to create.  Adding this spring garland to the mix in my home is going to add such a POP of color and personality.

Supplies Needed for Carrot Garland Decoration

To create this carrot garland decoration, you will need the following materials and supplies.

How to Make the Spring Garland

Start by downloading the free printable carrot pattern. Use the pattern to cut out EIGHT orange carrots from oly*fun.  With good scissors, all eight can be cut out at the same time.

Next, place scrap fabric squares on the carrots front pieces and sew them on using a sewing machine.

Sew the front pieces to the backs, leaving at least a 1/4 inch seam allowance.  This will be the added space around the edges that will bunch up and give the carrots character.

Lightly stuff the carrots with Poly-Fil.  The goal is to give them dimension, not to make them totally full.

Cut green tops from oly*fun and add some fabric for personality.  I changed the thread in my machine to green at this time.

Trim and tuck the carrot tops into the carrots.  Pin in place then use a zig-zag stitch to close carrot and attach top.  Remove pin.

Create a loop on the middle carrot tops and stitch in place.  This is how the carrots will hang on the garland.

When the carrots are complete, string them on twine and hang.  This twine is from Hampton Art and so are the darling hanging frames.

The extra seam allowance around the edges really leaves space for so much scrunchy fun.

It is an adorable addition to kick off spring decorating in the studio!
